Sick Baby Part 3

You may not believe it... but my poor baby is still sick.

Her fever has been coming and going, eventhough her cough and phlegm have since improved after she has been put on second round of stronger anti-biotics (the first round of antibiotics given by the GP has not worked, so the paeds decided to put her on Augmentin).

But guess what, right from the day she started Augmentin, which was Mon, she has been having diarrhea. Her tummy rumbled so much that she couldn't sleep and had been crying throughout the whole nite for the past few nites. So you can imagine, neither me or hubby had a wink too. We were so exhausted that we could barely woke up the next morning.

Last nite was the last straw of our sleepless nites. We brought her to see the paed again... for the third time. The dr said that the diarrhea could probably be brought about by the antibiotics. We thought she would be given some anti-diarhea medicine. To our surprise, all we are given were some sachets of Lacetol Fort. We have a number of packets back home!

Nonetheless, we really hope this is the last trip we have to make to see dr. So far, we have seen GP 3 times, and paeds 3 times too in the last 2 weeks for our baby! And this does not include the 2 trips my hubby sees the GP and me, so far, once to the GP for our own sickness (passed from our darling)...

Luckily we are covered by my hubby's extensive corporate medical plan. Or else, we could have easily spent $300 in total!

Besides monetary costs, there are also other "costs" such as taking time off to take care of her and ourselves...and not to mention the worry, anxiety and the suffering we have to go through.

The biggest worry we have is that she could have been infected with pneumococcal disease which is incurable. Thank God it wasn't. In any case, we have decided to put her on pneumococcal vaccination when she gets well.

In short, it has been physically and emotionally draining throughout.

It is really no joke when your child falls sick. We pray she will not fall ill for a long time to come.

thanks for your concern.

she is well now... thanks to the stronger antibiotics.

Nothing beats seeing your kid bounce back to his/her bubbly self after being so sick for so long...
