Planning For That Perfect Birthday Party

For the past two weeks, I have been busy planning for Chevonne's birthday. After all , it is her first birthday, it is one of her biggest moments in life, so I feel that no efforts should be spared in planning for that perfect party for her.

It is really no walk in the park in planning for a party. We need to think about when to hold the party, where should the party take place, who to invite, how many to invite, what food to order and so on.... It almost felt like we are planning for our wedding again!

First, the venue. My hubby and I have been cracking our heads about where to hold the party, since our humble abode could not accomodate all the people we wish to invite. This was a lesson learnt when we held Chevonne's First Month birthday party last year. Even though we have split the event into two sessions, it is still overcrowded at my place. There was hardly any space for the guests to stand, not to mention sit. It was unbelievably hot inside the house with everybody around (we do not have any aircon in the living room). Anyone with claustrophobia could easily die there. It was also very tiring to have split into two parties instead of one. At the end of the day, my hubby and I were so dog-tired, and Chevonne was so cranky for the rest of the evening due to the lack of rest.

Once bitten, twice shy. This time we decided to hold it at the function hall at my hubby's aunt's condo. It should be able to take up to 60 guests... comfortably.

Then the cake. I realise you can't really find nice cute cakes in Singapore for kids. I have searched through almost all the confectionaries I could think of -- Four Leaves, St Leaven (same co. as Four Leaves, to my surprise), Angie's Choice, Bengawan Solo, ecakes.com (recommended by my on-line buddy but I find that the price a bit steep), Prima Deli, Polar Puffs and Cakes.

BS has Mickey, Pooh and Princesses (eg. Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, etc) designs. If you like Sanrio characters, such as Hello Kitty, and Loonie Tunes, then you should get the cake from PPC. As for Prima Deli, they have their own cutsie designs involving tiny 3D sugar figurines. If you want something so unique and outstanding that completely blow people's mind (like those featured here), then
www.ecake.com.sg is the answer. However, you must be prepared to blow your pocket too.

I used to think I could get cake of any design I want just from any confectionery. After this arduous search, I realise it is not a piece of cake. Each and every bakery seems to specialise in certain designs. So, you need to adjust your expectation when looking for that "perfect" cake since only limited designs could be offered. Up till now, I still have not decided on the cake. :P

Yeah it is very cute but i am not getting it. I am not sure how it is going to taste like since it does not come from any confectionery i am familiar with. furthermore, dun you think it is very difficult to cut it evenly into 50 over pcs? it is gg to be a very challenging task! also hor, the cake is so cute! I dun think I have the heart to chop it up. :P
