Happy Birthday, My Little Princess!

My little girl is turning 3 on 13 Apr, and we wanted to do something different this time. We decided that we will throw a small party for her to celebrate with her little classmates at Montessori.

And to make it even more unique, I have decided not to buy the usual cake for her. Instead, I ordered cupcakes from Trish Cupcake Momma, which I happened to find from the website. From the pictures posted in the website, I must say they look good and yummy! Since my girl fancies Barbie, I told the Trish, the maker, that I want it to be themed after Barbie and she said no problem at all.

On 11 Apr, I sneaked out from my confinement and met my father-in-law at the school. My hubby came a tat later as he had to go to Kembangan to pick up the cupcakes. As per instruction from her form teacher, we should only go up when the cake is ready, so as to give her the big surprise.

Three of us went up to the class. When all the little children saw us coming in, they looked so confused, including Chevonne. It took her almost a few minutes before she realised it was us. And when the teacher announced to the class that we are celebrating her birthday today, all the children jumped up and down with joy cos they know it means they will get to eat yummy cake!

Everyone, including ourselves, were so awed by the great looking cupcakes. You have to agree that they look super yummy and delicious. Before we could start the party, the mood was momentarily spoilt when we found out there were no candles given! Without the candles, how can we sing the birthday song and how is she going to blow the candles? Panicked, as we were given only 1 1/2 hr to celebrate her birthday, I chided my hubby for overlooking this. Luckily we found out from my MIL that she has some spare birthday candles at home, which is not far from the school.

While waiting for the candles, all the kids couldn't keep their hands off from the cute cupcakes. All were starting to say which cupcake they want. Some likes the butterfly, some likes the flowers, and some like the ones with Barbie's pictures on it. So with such great enthusiasm, the wait seems eternal to them, and to us, as we were worried they could not control themselves from grabbing the cakes. We and the teachers have a hard time trying to keep their "enthusiasm" at bay.

Finally, what seems like eternity, my hubby returned with 3 little candles, and we quickly kick off the party. We sang the birthday song in Eng and Mandarin version, while Chevonne sat shyly infront of the cake with her grandpa. The moment we finished singing the songs, you can see many small hands reaching out to the cake. We have to quickly lift up the cake, and get everyone sat by the table in order to prevent chaos. All we need to say is " Those who sit at the table will get a cupcake!" and immediately you see the little ones dashed to the tables and sat still, waiting eagerly.

Chevonne is the greediest of all. She licked up all the cream in first, second and third cupcakes, and still asking for more even though she has not finished a single cupcake. When I refused to give to her, she cried and cried. I think she is the most spoilt among all. When I checked with her teacher whether she usually behaved this way, she assured me that she doesn't and is usually well-behaved. She said, she probably behaved this way, because of our presence. Kids usually whine a lot when their loved ones are there.

Around 12.30 pm, the party comes to an end. Those who are on half day session, including my girl, starts leaving the school. We quickly gave out the goodie bags to all the kids and they were so delirious upon receiving it.

On 13 Apr, the actual birthday, we held a small celebration with our immediate families. We ordered some food from Golden Pillow 933 and a Barbie cake from e-Creations. Her eldest uncle gave her a toy keyboard, while her Grandaunties gave her angpows. It was a simple event.
