Modern Montessori

After barely 3 weeks into Carpe Diem, we have decided to pull Chevonne out of the school, and put her in a Modern Montessori school.

It was not an easy decision. We are quite happy with Carpe Diem. The teachers are nice and friendly, and they have taken good care of my girl. The sight of sea just outside the school was magnificent. And we are especially impressed with the efforts they put in when they update us about her progress in the communication book. They actually take pictures of her participating in the school activities. This is something we never get from the former Carpe Diem school she had attended 2 years ago.

However, having said about all the good points, we felt that it might be better to put her in a Montessori scholol. This is mainly because we both believe firmly in this method of teaching. Secondly, the location is more convenient as it is nearer to her grandparents' home. It had been rather challenging for us to bring her to school in the morning rush hour everyday, as we both haveto be at work early.

Nonetheless, we will still keep the option open. We think not all kids are suitable for Montessori. We prefer to let her to try out, but we will monitor and see how she copes. If she ever seems unhappy for whatever reasons, or if the school functions in ways which do not agree with us, we will not hesitate to put her back to Carpe Diem again. After all, we do not think it would be worthwhile to pay 100% more fees for her to attend a school that is overrated or underperformed.

We shall see how things go when she starts her first day in March.
